Dans la petite ville côtière de Hinosakacho, les journées de Nagisa, 16 ans, sont rythmées par les doutes et l’incertitude d’un avenir sans rêve. Enfant, sa grand-mère lui avait confié une croyance ancienne : chaque mot porte en lui une âme, le Kotodama. Depuis un mystérieux incident, Nagisa n’a jamais cessé d’y croire. Un jour, en explorant une station de radio abandonnée, elle s’improvise animatrice et enregistre quelques mots… sans imaginer que cette voix réveillera bien plus qu’un simple écho, et bouleversera sa vision du monde.
